Cane is an ambitious new family drama debuting this Fall on CBS. It follows the many struggles of a Cuban-American family in South Florida. Pancho Duques, played by Hector Elizondo (Chicago Hope), is the patriarch of a sugar and rum empire that he built from the ground up. The main tension of the show comes from the opposing ideas of Pancho's sons. Frank Duques (Nestor Carbonell, Lost) is Pancho's biological son, and is more concerned with making a quick dollar and chasing women than with his family's future. Alex Vega (Jimmy Smits, NYPD Blue) is Pancho's adopted son who has settled down, with a family of his own, and wants to secure their future. Meanwhile Pancho's wife Amalia (Rita Moreno, West Side Story, Oz) does what she can to keep the family together. Intrigue, family drama, and Latin heat combine to make Cane one of the most anticipated new shows of the season.
