Ugly Betty is the cornerstone of ABC's new fall line-up. This new comedy drama is produced by Salma Hayek and is based on the internationally popular Spanish soap opera and novella, Yo Soy Betty La Fea. The show follows an ugly duckling who gets a job as the executive assistant to the Editor-in-Chief of Mode, a top fashion magazine. Although, she was hired by the head of the company so that the editor wouldn't try to date her, Betty proves herself to be a great assistant and an asset to the magazine. Betty's looks may not get her love from the fashionistas at Mode, including Vanessa Williams as vile assistant editor Wilhelmina Slater, but her quick thinking and good heart earn her love from the people around her.
