Find Your Perfect Industry Fit

Casting Director Jenny RawdinCasting Director Jenny Rawdin on alternate ways to gain industry experience

Can’t decide what part of the entertainment industry is the best fit for you? Well, you're not alone! Most people don’t know exactly where their niche is until they try something different...

Here are my suggestions:

1. Become an intern. If you're in school or have a teaching job, you may have more time on your hands now that it's summer. So take up an internship! Interning is a great way to see how the production side of things work. You'll learn about producing, editing, casting, writing and so much more. Also, you can make your own schedule and you might even get paid or get college credit as well! Interning is a great learning experience and the best way to get your foot in the door at the same time!

2. Take acting classes. Taking classes, like improv, sketch comedy, or acting 101, is great way to boost your resume and mingle with other aspiring actors. You'll also meet industry professionals who can help you take the next steps towards your career. Acting schools also post a lot of audition information. Check out InstantCast’s Resource Center to find classes near you!

3. Stay tuned to InstantCast. InstantCast not only gives you a huge variety of VIP casting calls, but provides you with exclusive InstantCast LIVE! events, free seminars, e-books, headshot packages, and more! InstantCast is your key to getting started in the industry.
