VIP Member Kalisha Rockingham is Rocking on New Reality Show Crowded!
By Isabelle Dungan
Kalisha Rockingham, a.k.a. Miss Kitty Boo, knows what she wants and InstantCast has helped her get it. She has always wanted to be on television. Now, thanks to InstantCast, she is about to be seen in homes all over the U.S.! Kalisha applied for the new reality TV series, Crowded, from an audition post she found on InstantCast. She was cast and will be one of approximately ten people living in a Big Brother-style house!
When Kalisha called me last week to tell me the good news she said "reality TV is a great way to get seen and get national exposure." Indeed, Kalisha is using the medium of reality television to jumpstart her career. From this new reality series, Kalisha hopes to gain the exposure needed to start her own TV show.
Kalisha followed all the information she found on InstantCast and sent in a submission tape to the address posted on the casting call. On the tape, she talked about herself and read R&B lyrics that she wrote. While she does not sing very well, Kalisha informed me that she is a talented lyricist and poet.
So, when I asked Kalisha "What's the premise of this new reality show?" she responded "You got me!" The only information producers have given her is, like Big Brother, the show has a host. She also knows she will be living in a (Crowded?) house in Philadelphia, PA with eight to ten other people. Kalisha said it is either going to air on VH1 or MTV. While the show is unpaid, Kalisha believes that the housemates will be competing for money.
What makes Kalisha most excited about her move from Chicago to this "crowded" house on the East Coast? The producers are allowing her to bring her pet toy Chihuahua, Ken, named after her deceased best friend. Kalisha is currently waiting on a list of items she is allowed to bring to the house. Aside from this list, all she knows is her moving date which is the second week of May.
When I asked Kalisha if she knew anything about her "soon-to-be-roommates" she told me that she found a few of them through MySpace, but she is the only one from the Midwest. While originally from Jackson, Mississippi, Miss Kitty Boo has lived in Chicago most her life and is already gaining notoriety in the windy city! Just last week she was featured on a Chicago radio announcement about the upcoming "Crowded" series.
You may be wondering, as I was, why Kalisha also goes by the pseudonym "Miss Kitty Boo." She says that in the InstantCast audition information applicants were encouraged to pick a catchy name.
After our long and fun conversation, Miss Kitty Boo left me with her motto that she wanted to share with all you InstantCast hopefuls out there: "We all have dreams, but when you write your dreams down they do become goals, and when you work to accomplish your goals they become reality." Indeed, Miss Kitty Boo's dreams are about to become reality on reality TV! We can't wait to watch you Miss Boo!
