Valley Girls was a proposed spin-off of
Gossip Girl,

television series created by
Josh Schwartz and
Stephanie Savage and currently airing on
The CW Television Network. The backdoor pilot of the spin-off aired as "
Valley Girls", the 24th episode of the second season of
Gossip Girl. The spin-off would have centered on the lives of character
Lily van der Woodsen and her sister Carol living in the San Fernando Valley. After much speculation on the show's status, it was pronounced dead when the show did not appear in the CW's fall schedule. However, on May 21, at a CW
upfront Dawn Ostroff, the CW's CEO, stated the show is still in consideration for midseason.
[Dawn Ostroff Says "Gossip Girl" Spin Off Could Still Get A Spot On The CW Schedule, Zap2It.com, May 21, 2009] On August 4 during the CW executive press tour, Ostroff stated that the show happening was "unlikely" and was not "going to happen right now".

Plot
Taking place in 1983, the show chronicles the life of Lily van der Woodsen (using her maiden name of Rhodes in the series) when she was 17 years old. The series will involve characters like her father, Rick Rhodes, her mother, CeCe Rhodes, her sister, Carol Rhodes and the father of her future daughter and son, Keith van der Woodsen. Other characters include Owen (an apparent love interest for Lily) and Shep, who likes Carol.
It was also suggested that characters from Schwartz' other show
The O.C. would appear, most likely
Kirsten Cohen and
Jimmy Cooper as teenagers.
