The show
Lifestories: Families in Crisis was an
HBO series that deals with major issues involving individuals. Issues include a child molesting priest (played by
Craig Wasson) terrorizing families, an anorexic (played by
Calista Flockhart) trying to deal with her problems, a football player addicted to steroids (played by
Ben Affleck), substance abuse by a teenager, homosexuality and bi-sexuality involving teenagers, a teenage girl who has an illegal abortion and dies, a boy (
Joey DiPaolo) who contracts AIDS and has to live with the disease, and homelessness in Phildadelphia and the major impact it has on a teenager (
Trevor Ferrell). This series appeared on HBO for two seasons and featured many rising stars of movies and television such as
Calista Flockhart,
Ben Affleck,
Ernie Hudson,
Sam Rockwell and
Claire Danes.
