Early life
Russell was born in
Springfield, Massachusetts, a descendant of William Russell and Martha Davies, who came to MA from England c. 1640 and settled in what is now Arlington, MA. He is the son of Louise Julia (née Crone), a dancer, and
Bing Russell, a character actor known as Deputy Clem Foster on
Bonanza.
