Christopher David "Chris" Noth (, born November 13 1954) is an American actor and poet. He is known for two long-running television roles: as Det. Mike Logan on Law & Order and Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and as Mr. Big on Sex and the City. For the latter role, he has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award.

Biography

Early life

Noth, the youngest of three sons, was born in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Jeanne Parr, a former CBS news reporter, and Charles Noth, an insurance salesman.Chris Noth Biography (1957?-) Noth's father died when he was eight. During his childhood, Noth traveled with his mother and brothers throughout the United Kingdom, Yugoslavia, and Spain.

Noth spent a part of his undergraduate years at Marlboro College in Vermont, where he built himself a log cabin. He also wrote poetry during this time. He earned an MFA from Yale School of Drama where he acted in some twenty-five plays and was a pupil of acting coach Sanford Meisner.
