Carter Bays

Carter Bays (b. 1975?) is an American television writer. Along with writing partner Craig Thomas, he is best known as a creator, writer, and executive producer of the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Like several of the main characters on the show, Bays and Thomas attended Wesleyan University.List of notable Wesleyan University alumni, Wesleyan University website The duo are also members of a band called The Solids. Bays plays guitar and is the lead singer of the band, which performed the theme songs for both Oliver Beene and How I Met Your Mother.The Solids MySpace page

Prior to the creation of How I Met Your Mother, Bays and Thomas wrote for a number of television shows including Oliver Beene and Quintuplets. They also wrote part two of the American Dad! episode "Stan of Arabia".
