Carry On Up the Jungle, is a
1970 comedy and is the nineteenth "
Carry On" film. It is a send up of the
Tarzan/African exploration genre.
Plot Summary
Lady Evelyn Bagley (
Joan Sims) finances an ornithology expedition to the darkest, most barren regions of the African wilds to find her long-lost husband and baby son. The team are led by the fearless (and lecherous) Bill Boosey (
Sid James). Camp ornithologist Professor Inigo Tinkle (
Frankie Howerd) is searching for the rare
Oozlum bird, which is said to fly in ever decreasing circles until it disappears up its own rear end. After the travellers are kidnapped by a tribe of bloodthirsty cannibals known as the Noshas, they get "rescued" by the all female Lubby Dubby Tribe led by
Valerie Leon from the
Lost World of Aphrodisia. These bikinied lovelies seem to need Sid James, Charles Hawtrey and Frankie Howerd for breeding purposes...Maybe Lady Bagley's long-lost son, now a compassionate if bungling
Tarzan-like jungle dweller, can save the day.
