Barnaby Jones is a television detective series and spin-off of Cannon starring Buddy Ebsen and Lee Meriwether as father and daughter-in-law, who are also both private investigators in Los Angeles. It ran on CBS from January 28, 1973 to April 3, 1980, as a midseason replacement, which bumped the long-running detective series Mannix to air, one hour before this one.

The Barnaby Jones character was introduced in the second-season Cannon episode "Requiem for a Son" in 1973. The two-part episode "The Deadly Conspiracy" (1975) began on Cannon and concluded on Barnaby Jones.
