She has done playback singing for over 950 Bollywood movies
and sold many records.Asha has been singing since the 1950s. Until now, however, record sales in India were never subjected to the sort of meticulous scrutiny and audit that occurs in America and Europe. So, it is very difficult to say precisely how many of Asha's records have been sold (ignoring how much has been pirated); rough estimates put the figure in the millions. She is the sister of the equally accomplished Lata Mangeshkar.
